About DTF Printing & How It Works

What Is DTF Printing?

DTF printing is a process where designs are printed directly onto a special PET film using high-quality DTF inks. A hot-melt adhesive powder is then applied to the wet ink, and the film is cured in an oven to bond the powder to the print. The result is a fully ready-to-press transfer that can be applied to almost any fabric with a heat press.

How to Apply a DTF Transfer

Applying our transfers is fast and easy — here's the step-by-step process:

  1. Pre-press your garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
  2. Position your transfer ink-side down on the garment.
  3. Press at 300–320°F (150–160°C) with medium pressure for 15–20 seconds.
  4. Hot peel the film immediately after pressing while still warm.
  5. Re-press for 5–10 seconds with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper for a smooth, finished look.
  6. Let cool and enjoy your professionally decorated garment!

What Fabrics Can DTF Be Applied To?

DTF transfers work on virtually any fabric type, including:

  • 100% Cotton
  • 100% Polyester
  • Cotton/Polyester blends
  • Nylon
  • Denim
  • Leather and faux leather
  • And more!

Unlike screen printing or HTV, DTF does not require a white underbase on dark garments — the adhesive powder handles that automatically.
